1933 - 2024

Peggy Joyce (Wilson) Pollard, 90, passed away peacefully March 1, 2024, at her home in Oklahoma City. She was born July 5, 1933, in Davidson, Oklahoma to “Red” and Elma McCauley. Peggy’s father passed away when she was 2 years old. Her mother remarried when she was 6 years old and she was adopted and raised by her loving stepfather, Jim Wilson. She graduated from Frederick High School in 1951. Shortly after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart Billy Ray Pollard and began a wonderful, fun-filled 66-year marriage.

Pulling a small travel trailer, she accompanied Billy on road construction for nine years, before they moved to Oklahoma City. Her career then included Montgomery Ward’s finance department, being a classified key-punch operator in the Tinker Field flight tower, FFA supervisor and finally earning her cosmetology license. In 1969, the family moved to Perry, where Billy became “Bordon Bill” with the Bordon’s Milk Company Distributorship, and she opened Peggy’s Beauty Boutique and Peggy’s Nearly New Store. They shared a love for lake life, league bowling, chaperoning kids’ activities/parties, and pets. In 1990, they relocated to OKC and managed Garden Gate Condominiums, and then for the next 20 years they managed UStore storage units until retiring at 82-years of age. Anyone that spent time with Peggy knew her love for hosting, cooking, and gathering of family and friends. Peggy’s greatest joy came from her role as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished every moment showering them with unconditional love, wisdom, and affection. With her zest for life, love, kindness, strong-will and resilience, her memory will continue to inspire and guide others. Peggy’s greatest legacy was her love of family.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Billy; her parents; stepfather; a sister, Iris VanBuskirk; and daughter-in-law, Terry Lynn Pollard.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Pollard (Lori), Perry, OK; daughter, Terri Young (Kyle), Granbury, TX; and son, Scott Pollard (Emily), Houston, TX; eight grandchildren: Billy Joe Pollard (Jenni), Jamie Horner, Dustin Young (Tammy), Brandy Houska (Brady), Derek Young (Morgan), Joseph Pollard, Jordan Pollard and Andy Stone (Misty Weber); and nine great grandchildren: Bella, Ashton and Charley Pollard, Matthew Stone, Kinzly and Lyric Homer, Brayden Houska, Elizabeth and Emma Grace Young.

Peggy’s Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2023 at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home, Perry, where friends and families will gather to reminisce and share stories about a wonderful life. Public visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 7 at Dighton-Marler Funeral Home.
