Imogene Ragsdale, 93, died at her home in Kansas City, Missouri, on Monday, December 27, 2021. Imogene was born September 29, 1928, in Falls of Rough, Kentucky, the daughter of Gwyn and Everett Spaulding.

Imogene grew up in the small “company” town of Falls of Rough and was always proud of her Kentucky roots. In summers during the war, she worked in Louisville at a box factory, the phone company and the war surplus department. She eventually moved there, where she met her husband of 52 years, Larry Ragsdale, who brought her to her first time living in Kansas City, Missouri. They relocated to Perry, Oklahoma, where she worked alongside Larry at Ragsdale Hardware for nearly 25 years. Imogene never met anyone who wasn’t a friend, and she enjoyed the many people she met during their time at “the store”. She was a long-time member of the Ladies Tuesday Afternoon Club and Friends of the Library. Even after returning to Kansas City to be near her children, she kept up with all Perry news, closely reading every edition of the Perry Daily Journal. Imogene’s family always came first, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and visiting her family in Kentucky were what she loved most.

Imogene is survived by her children, Bob Ragsdale, Linda Ragsdale and Mike Ragsdale, all of Kansas City, Missouri, her granddaughter, Sara Ragsdale, of Washington, D.C., and her nieces, grandnieces, nephews and grandnephews of Louisville and Falls of Rough, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters, Wanda McDonald and Alice Luna, her brother, Sam Spaulding and her grandson, Bobby Ragsdale. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite local library. Interment will be beside her husband at White Chapel Cemetery.
