Larry Duane Sams, born 1934 in Lucien, Oklahoma and resided in Stillwater; passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 29, 2024.

Phyllis Karcher Sams, his spouse of 64 years, preceded him.

Viewing will be at Strode Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Zion Lutheran Church.

A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2024 in Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry.

Larry’s career was spent leading 4-H groups in Payne County and the Northeast District of Oklahoma.

During his many years of service, his passion was spent with all types of judging teams, record books, 4-H leadership conferences and camps, fairs, poultry events, etc.

He loved guiding children during their youth and impacted generations of families. His second passion was traveling the world from China to Tanzania and beyond. Larry was an only child born to Chester and Edna (Inselman) Sams and was their pride and joy. Larry had a great life story as many know. Larry left behind his children Dirk (Susan) Sams and Liane Sams and grandchildren Jordan Potter, Peyton Potter, Charlotte Sams, and Audrey Sams.
